Nevada City is home ground. Jay Perry has worked properties in and around town for years, so the person quoting your job already knows how the ground and the canopy behave up here.

Grass Valley is a few minutes down the road, and it makes up a good share of the work. Older in-town lots and newer subdivisions both, on the same schedule and the same crew.

Penn Valley properties tend to run bigger and more open, and they need a different kind of attention than an in-town lot.

Alta Sierra is about ten minutes down Highway 49 from Grass Valley, and it is one of the areas we work most. Wooded lots built up around the golf course, sitting near the 2,300 foot line, with a canopy that drops litter twelve months a year.

Cedar Ridge sits just southeast of Grass Valley along Highway 174, close enough that we are there in under ten minutes. The name is honest about the ground: it is a ridge, and it is timbered.

Lake of the Pines is a gated community south of Grass Valley built around the lake and the golf course. Properties here are held to a standard the rest of the county is not, and the work has to match that.

Lake Wildwood is the gated community out at Penn Valley, built around the lake and the golf course. We are already in Penn Valley regularly, so getting to Wildwood is no stretch at all.

Rough and Ready sits between Grass Valley and Penn Valley, and it is country more than it is town. Bigger parcels, more grass, more oak, and a lot more ground to cover per job.

Chicago Park runs along Highway 174 between Grass Valley and Colfax, old orchard country that has filled in with homes on decent-sized lots. It is about fifteen minutes from Grass Valley and we are through there often.

Cascade Shores is up above Scotts Flat, about fifteen minutes east of Nevada City on Red Dog and Quaker Hill. It is the highest ground we work regularly, sitting around the 3,000 foot mark, and it is thick timber the whole way in.

North San Juan is up Highway 49 on the San Juan Ridge, north of Nevada City. Parcels run large, neighbours are not close, and the road out is the only road out. That shapes how people here think about clearing, and it should.

Colfax sits at the bottom of Highway 174, about twenty minutes from Grass Valley, right where the foothills start climbing toward the pass. Same ridge country, same canopy, same problems.

Auburn is about half an hour down Highway 49 from Grass Valley, lower and hotter than the country we usually work. That difference shows up in the yards, and it is worth knowing before somebody quotes your job.
