When is the best time to prune fruit trees here?
Winter, while the tree is dormant, for most fruit trees in the foothills. A tree that has been left a long time should not be taken back all at once, so we do what it can carry this year and finish the shape the next.
My shrubs have grown over the windows. Can that be brought back?
Usually, yes. Overgrown shrubs get cut back into shape rather than sheared into a box, and the material leaves with us. Bringing them back over two seasons is often kinder to the plant than one hard cut.
Do you split wood?
Yes. Wood splitting is part of what we do on properties where trees have already come down, and we can chip or haul the rest of the material.
